Testing 1, 2, 3...

Hey there fellow bloggers! Mike the Mad Scientist here posting the "whats up" for the series The Glades. A and E's new series that's only 9 episodes in is certainly causing stir already. Starring Matt Passmore as detective Jim Longworth. The show is named after the glades in Florida, the setting of our series. Jim Longworth moves to Florida for a little "down time" hoping the pleasant beaches will ease his mind. He was accused of sleeping with his former captains wife. However, upon arrival the crimes are just as hot as the state itself. Maybe he bit off more than he could chew?

Although captivating in itself, the story of a homicide detective with a struggling social life, it doesn't seem as though the public is giving it much of a chance to develop. Metacritics scored it at 64 out of 100. In high school that was an F! Now it could be that's just one jerk on the Internets review. A lot of the times those assholes are wrong about...just about everything. The series has made it to 9 episodes so far so it much be doing something right. I can expect the show to continue for a while now. Why do I think that? Well, just keep reading this blog and find out.

This is a first run through test for "Blogger." I'm new to all of this. In the future (after this intro) I hope the rest of my blogs will be in video form. Hope to hear from everyone. Now it's time for me to do homework, i.e. watch TV.

  1. I feel like this plot has been done one too many times (with different twists of course) with already successful series, CSI Miami, Dexter, etc... Miami, in my own opinion, is over done way too much in the crime thriller drama genre. Sure it's warm there and obviously there are monsterous crimes that do happen, but for crying out loud, pick a different city... why not Youngstown in the 60s?? or Cleveland??? or even in a different country??? I haven't watched this show, so I'm not one to judge, but doesn't sound a bit too cliched?

  2. Yeah, I agree with what she said about the plot being overdone. There doesn't seem to be anything that makes this show stand out from all the other shows like it. That's A&E for you. But I think that as long as it doesn't get lost among the other similar shows, it will keep going, because it seems like A&E can get by with pretty much any kind of programming.

That being said, I haven't seen the show; I hardly watch any tv at all.

    Nice Chair/old tv picture

  3. sounds interesting to me, like you said not much buzz so far about it but the artwork for it made me interested in it. I do feel the whole detective thing has been done before but we shall see how different it is, it may be a little darker than most but we shall see.
